The Regency government (Pemkab) of Siak will hold an international bicycle racing event, Tour de Siak (Tdsi), on 4 – 8 December 2024. This sport tourism event aims to promote Siak regency as an international tourist destination while attracting foreign tourists.
In order to prepare the event, the Siak Tourism Office held a preparatory meeting led by the acting temporary (Pjs) Regent of Siak, Indra Purnama. TDSi 2024 will feature a different format from previous years, with routes starting from various districts in Siak regency.
“This year, the start race will be held in three districts, not just from Siak City. There are three different stages, namely: Stage 1 Apit-Siak River with a distance of 90 km, Stage 2 Tualang-Siak as far as 140 km, and Stage 3 City race Mempura-Siak along 135 km,” explained the head of the Siak Tourism Office, Tekad Perbatas Setia Dewa at Zamrud Room, Siak regency, Riau Province on Tuesday (12/11/2024)
Determination added, the change of starting point is done so that people in each district can participate in the excitement of this sport tourism, as well as introducing local tourism icons to the racers, both from within the country and abroad. Hopefully, the racers who participated will bring beautiful stories about Siak tourism to their home countries.
“The first stage will start at RTH Taman Syarifah Sembilan, the second stage from Taman Motuyoko in Tualang, and the third stage from the front of Tangsi Belanda in Mempura. With this adjustment, we hope that local MSMEs can participate and feel a positive impact economically,” said Tekad.
In his speech, acting regent of Siak, Indra Purnama, said he was enthusiastic and appreciated the existence of this international event in Siak regency.
“The Tour de Siak is a very big event. This is an amazing opportunity for us to introduce Siak as a world-class tourist destination. I hope all OPD and related parties can work together and carry out their roles to make this TDSi a success,” said Indra.
Indra also hopes that TDSi 2024 can lift Siak tourism to the international level and increase foreign tourist visits to this area.
