The route of the most prestigious bicycle race in the world, the Tour de France 2025 has already been released. Tuesday, October 29. Unlike the 2024 Tour de France, which started from Florence Italy and finished in the city of Nice, France. This time full was in France for 21 days of the TDF event.

This year it did finish in the city of Nice because Paris is improving for the purposes of the 2024 Paris Olympics. But next year there will be no more Olympics. So the finish of TdF 2025, which was held on July 5-27, can return to the city of Paris as before.

The final day of Stage 21 will run 120 km from Mantes-la-Ville and finish in Paris. Because next year the total is held in France, the total distance of TdF 2025 is 3,320 km. 170 km shorter than this year’s TdF.

For the elevation is also shorter to 51,550 meters. While this year the elevation reached 53,103 meters. According to Christian Prudhomme, TDF race director, this year’s route is more balanced between sprint stages, hilly or hilly stages, and mountain stages.

The divisions are, seven flat stages (sprint stage), six hilly stages (hilly stage), six mountain stages (climbing stage), and two time trial stages.

The 112th TDF race this time took the queen stage in the Pyranees mountains. Finish at the top of Mont Ventoux. There are also two stages that end in the Alps towards Couchevel and La Plagne.

Prudhomme also reminded, the existence of two stages of this time trial can change the general classification victory map.

“I hope the Peyragudes time trial (Stage 13) will not be a definitive turning point. And even the arrival at the top of Ventoux (Stage 16) will make the situation for the yellow jersey will remain balanced before the last two ascents in the Alps,” explained Prudhomme.

When looking at the route in outline, many stages finish in the hills or mountains. Make climber’s chance to be able to master the yellow jersey in the general classification standings.

As a result, next year we will again see the fight between the mainstay climber UAE Team Emirates, Tadej Pogacar and Visma-Lease a Bike, Jones VIngegaard.

Even so, it does not discourage sprinter racers like Jasper Philipsen from Alpecin-Deceuninck.

“The route looks good for me who is a sprinter. There are probably seven or eight sprint opportunities in total. There is still a chance to win the stage champion and the yellow jersey. A unique opportunity and a great goal, ” said Philipsen, who has three stage wins at the 2024 TdF.

The Tour de France will feature 22 teams. 18 WorldTeam teams will be invited automatically. Lotto and Israel-Premier Tech will be present as the best-ranked ProTeam of 2024.

Meanwhile, other proteam teams such as Uno-X, TotalEnergies, and Tudor Pro Cycling will have to fight for the two remaining wild card invitations.
